Spring Is In The Air

When you haven't posted in years and you don't know if anyone is even out there anymore you need to start slow.   Just thought I would post a few pictures.  I am trying to make everything feel like spring which is hard when there is still snow on the ground and all I want to do is start a fire and stay in my pjs all day.  Day light savings time is tonight so it can't be to far away...right??

Target Threshold Rabbit Pillow

My latest spring find is this amazing indoor - outdoor pillow from Target.  It may end up on my porch as the weather gets nicer, but for now it has a perfect home in my dining room. Only $14.99!

A little greenery makes it feel a little more Springy.  These myrtle topiaries are very easy to take care of.  Partial sun and a watering once a week makes them happy.  

My final spring inspiration - pillows.  I change my pillow covers all the time (probably a bit to much).  The blue really brightens up the family room.  

Only 11 days of winter left - Here is to warmer, sunnier days ahead.

Making Room For A New Addition

It has been so long since I last blogged I think I forgot how to.  Almost nine months! 

 

We are expecting a new addition to our family in a few weeks and couldn't be more excited - this may explain the 9 months away from blogging.  My first 2 had their own rooms before they were even born.  The "nursery" does not exist with #3.  We have a 3 bedroom home so we decided to try to make our bedroom, the master bedroom (if you can call it that in an 1800s house) a master/nursery.

 

 

 

 

 

The first purchase was this adorable Emerson Mini Crib from Pottery Barn Kids.  Although it is not a convertible crib it takes the place of a bassinet and a crib and fits perfectly in the corner of the room.   The sign was a must have form Susie Harris.  She is so talented.  The curtains from West Elm were my first try in 20 years at "drapes"...I am more of a Roman Shade Girl, but I am now thinking about converting.  They add such warmth to the room.  The bureau is the  Ikea Hemnes Bureau.

 

 

An old pine bureau topped with a changing pad serves as a changing table.  The bedside lamps are from Target and the hooks are from Ikea.

 

 

In the other corner is the rocking station.  A home with a baby always needs a rocking chair.  This one was purchased almost ten years ago from Pottery Barn Kids and is still the perfect fit for any room.  Believe me it has been in just about every room in the house.  The brass reading lamp is from Target. 

 

 

So for now I think this master/nursery is complete or will be in a few weeks!

Dining Room Makeover Before & After

I had the pleasure of working on a dining room makeover for my sister a client a few months ago.  She was gracious enough to let me share the before & after pictures with you.  It is their first home so the space was a blank slate.   They were working on a small budget and the room itself was also very small.

Before

The main focus was a place to eat.  I chose a round pedestal table that was 36".  This still gave them enough space for a  comfortable traffic flow from the kitchen to the family room.  The table was purchased from an unfinished furniture store and painted black.



After



A small console table was added from Home Goods.  The drawers hold table cloths, napkins and napkin rings and the top serves as a mini bar. 

The splurge in the room were these adorable chairs from Restoration Hardware.  I am so jealous I want them for my own house.  They are the Madeleine Chair in Weather Oak Drifted.  The seat cushions are from Ikea.  Four were purchased for the room although only three sit around the table.

A Spring Hill Farm chalkboard was added to the bar with a cute saying from the homeowner.
